Ynni Ogwen Cyf is a community benefit society that works for environmental and social benefit in Dyffryn Ogwen. Ynni Ogwen Cyf's main objective is to create energy through renewable means. Specifically, they generate energy through a hydro system on the Ogwen river, and transfer any profit to a community fund that supports community and environmental projects in the Ogwen Valley.
Profits from the Ynni Ogwen hydro system have been used to implement further renewable energy projects including 21kW of solar PVs on 6 community buildings. Profits have also been used to employ an energy warden that supports local families in fuel poverty to cut down their energy use.
