Education and Engagement

Discover more about our education and engagement work

In order to create a just transition as we decarbonise our energy system, Welsh citizens must be informed and educated on how communities can participate and lead.

Community energy is placed in a unique position to bring in topics around locality, climate and the economy – lending a solid foundation for the Welsh curriculum and for wider public engagement.

Members of Community Energy Wales are already leading in climate education. The Energy Warriors project supported by EnergySparks and led by Egni has worked with schools to develop an understanding and connection to the solar panels installed by the co-op.

We are building a bank of educational resources on community energy, that will be updated regularly. If you have resources that you would like to share with us, please get in touch.

As well as providing educational programmes, the community energy sector wants to find novel and interesting ways to engage with the people of Wales. GwyrddNi – a project that brought together climate assemblies in Gwynedd has generated community actions plans for the climate – a pathway for communities to empower themselves in the face of the climate crisis.

We are developing our education and engagement work through a working group of members and experts in the field. If you would like to join, please get in touch.
